Oliver Lake, Reggie Workmann, Andrew Cyrille, die drei Schwergewichte des amerikanischen Jazz, erweitern ihr Trio 3 für die sechste Platte auf Intakt Records mit dem Pianisten Vijay Iyer. Der 43-jährige Jazzpianist, der 2013 mit dem grossen «MacArthur Genius Grant» ausgezeichnet wurde, ist nach Irène Schweizer, Geri Allen und Jason Moran somit der vierte Gastpianist im erweiterten Trio 3.

Im Sommer 2013 spielten Oliver Lake, Reggie Workman, Andrew Cyrille und Vijay Iyer während einer Woche im New Yorker Jazzclub Birdland, bevor sie im Sear Sound Studio die CD «Wiring» einspielten.

Der Autor und Poet Amiri Baraka besuchte die Konzerte im Birdland und schrieb in einem seiner letzten Texte über das Trio 3 + Vijay Iyer: «Vier grosse Musiker, die Ihre

Three ‘heavy weights’ of American jazz Oliver Lake, Reggie Workmann and Andrew Cyrille make up the band Trio 3. For their 6th album on Intakt Records they have added pianist Vijay Iyer to the line-up. The 43 year old musician is after Irène Schweizer, Geri Allen and Jason Moran the fourth guest piano player cooperating with Trio 3.

In the summer of 2013 Lake, Workman, Cyrille invited Vijay Iyer for a week long residency in New York’s Jazzclub ‘Birdland’, before they recorded the CD “Wiring” in Sear Sound Studio.
