Eine Aufnahme mit den Dialogen zwischen der Pianistin Irène Schweizer
und der Saxofonistin Co Streiff war schon lange fällig. Nicht nur, weil sie
seit Jahren zusammenarbeiten. Nicht nur, weil sie zu den wichtigsten
Jazz-Stimmen aus Europa zählen. Nicht nur, weil es sich Ð immer noch eine minoritäre Erscheinung Ð um zwei Frauen handelt. Sondern ganz schlicht, weil die Musik stimmt. Die beiden Musikerinnen schöpfen aus dem Vollen. Nie herrscht der Eindruck, die Ressourcen würden knapp oder seien gar aufgebraucht. Die CD ist eine der inspirierendsten CDs, die ich in letzter Zeit hören durfte. Das gilt sowohl für die Kompositionen wie für die Interpretation. Ganz abgesehen von der Lust am Spiel,
die auch in der konservierten Form noch durchdringt.

A recording with dialogues between the pianist Irène Schweizer
and the saxophone player Co Streiff has been long overdue. Not only because
they have been working together for years, not only because they are
among the most important jazz voices from Europe, and not only because Ð
still an exception Ð they are women. Rather quite simply because the music works. Both musicians create from fullness, thus one never has the impression that resources are scarce or even used up. The CD is one of the most inspiring CDs
that I have had the pleasure of hearing recently. This is valid for the
compositions as well as the interpretations. This is completely aside from the pleasure of playing that oozes out of the conserved format.
