Saadet Türköz receives the 2026 Culture Award of the Canton of Zurich
Saadet Türköz has three albums released on Intakt Records.
Every year, the canton of Zurich honors an outstanding personality with its Culture Prize.
With the Culture Prize, the State Council honors individuals who have created a body of work of proven artistic or cultural quality that extends beyond the canton's borders and has established itself within the national cultural landscape. The Culture Prize is endowed with 50,000 Swiss francs and is awarded once a year. The application to the State Council is submitted by the Cantonal Cultural Promotion Commission.
Saadet Türköz lives and works in Zurich and is one of the most influential voices on the independent music scene. In her work, she blends avant-garde, improvised music, and free jazz with Central Asian, Anatolian, and Oriental sounds. She also regularly collaborates with internationally renowned musicians. In 2023, she received the prestigious Swiss Music Prize. Her work stands for cultural openness. The Culture Prize of the Canton of Zurich honors her outstanding contribution to music-making in and far beyond the canton.
