In 1986, Intakt issued its inaugural non-profit release into a world still governed by lacquer and tape—where every note was a bold declaration, every motif a manifesto.

Today, the tides have transformed: streams flood our pockets, and true voices can drown. Yet beneath this digital deluge, manifestos are still alive in the hands and hearts of musicians—whose journeys are long, whose nights are late, whose art demands more than applause. Access is precious, yes, but integrity is equally vital: the right to be paid, to be nurtured, and to feel unwavering support at every turn—while granting us a compass as we navigate uncharted realms.

Supporting Musicians for the Long Term

The working life of even master musicians is not one to envy – long stints away from home and family, spending single nights in places they will rarely have time to savour.

In order to continue to support the careers of musicians for the long term and facilitate symbiotic collaborations resulting in groundbreaking music, we must find a way to sustain this support.

Our Promise to You

We finally have the technology to offer more tailored subscriptions for listeners who are as diverse as the music. We are hoping that more of you will join forces with us in our work by paying for music differently and also by engaging with us to develop transformative listening experiences. We endeavour to provide insights into a fascinating history of jazz, culture and the political climates that cannot be seperated from it.

It is our great hope that we can all work together to contribute to an experience that goes far beyond the music, and perhaps even help shape the future of music into a more egalitarian and fair system.
