On it's easier to imagine the end of the world..., Webber brings together nine of the finest improvisers active in creative music and clearly demonstrates why she has received so many accolades as a composer (Webber was recently named 'Rising Star Composer of the Year’’ in the 2026 DownBeat Critic's Poll). On this album she gives each band member a tailor-made vessel to showcase their original voice, while seamlessly moving between composed and improvised material. The source material behind the record, works by authors and thinkers who address late-stage capitalism and its effects, encourages Webber and her Nonet to value the collective over the individual, a theme reflected in the music through Webber's unselfish approach to bandleading. A masterpiece!
