More Info

Two masters of the art of storytelling meet: the German-Syrian writer Rafik Schami and the Dresden drummer and jazz percussionist Günter Baby Sommer. Rafik Schami reads a selection of his most beautiful texts, Günter Baby Sommer complements the texts with drums and timpani and continues the texts with sounding wood and gongs. These are entertaining dialogues that go beyond the boundaries of cultures and unite poetry and music. Word, sound and rhythm expand space and time.

Rafik Schami's novel "The Secret of the Calligrapher" (Hanser) has just been published. Günter Baby Sommer published "11 Songs - From German Lands" with the Central Quartet and in a duo with the American trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith.
