GOTTFRIED HONEGGER was born in Zurich in 1917. He lived in New York from 1958 to 1960, and after 1960 worked as a painter and sculptor in Zurich and Paris. In recent years, he and his partner Sybil Albers-Barrier created the Espace de l'Art Concret in Mouans-Sartoux near Cannes. Honegger, along with Max Bill and Richard Paul Lohse, is one of the most important representatives of concrete art. He created many works for public spaces and also produced a significant body of printmaking work. In 1996, Gottfried Honegger was honoured with France's highest artistic award, the title of Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres.

Honegger designed the covers for three Intakt CDs: London Jazz Composers Orchestra with Irène Schweizer, Marilyn Crispell and Pierre Favre, Double Trouble Two (Intakt CD 053); Barry Guy New Orchestra (Intakt CD 066); and Barry Guy, Marilyn Crispell and Paul Lytton, Odyssey (Intakt CD 070).
